Long separated from the West, Japan’s rich history has produced a unique and distinctive fashion culture. Today, the country is renowned not only for its sartorial innovation in style and cut but also for its sophisticated textiles, whose unique tactile and visual effects are rare in the West.
Edifice, the fashion brand, is famous in Japan for its urban de luxe outlook that is reflected in its strong craftsmanship, which edges on the avant-garde although the label has tackled the wearability aspect with a strong yet original ready-to-wear main line, along its accessible ‘SHIRT’ and ‘PLAY’ sub-lines.
The brand purposefully provokes a reaction while maintaining a sartorial finesse enhanced by its signature high quality fabrics.
A member of the BayCrew Group, Edifice is known for its yearly high-profile collaborations with international brands that have a strong appeal to the Japanese consumer. Previous collaborations included Paris Saint Germain, Porter, Adidas and Chrome Hearts.
Now, in 2018, it was Porfidio's turn. The Porfidio summer fashion line introduces the Euro-Mexicanicity of the Porfidio brand into the world of menswear through a Francophile re-interpretation a la Japonaise which makes the line a truly global first-class denizen of the world. Think Paris in Shibuya, rather than Tijuana in East L.A.
The unique colors of the line reflect the Mexican desert landscape that gave birth to the iconic agave. So, summery, blue-sky, daring, thirsty and magnesium-rich earthen tones pervade the clothes complementing while contrasting with the more maritime hues of Japan.
